Clean Your Solflare Wallet: Close Empty Token Accounts and Reclaim SOL

Solflare users tend to be the ones who have been on Solana the longest, which also means their wallets tend to carry the most leftovers. Every token you have ever swapped through, claimed, or been airdropped created an account, and most of those accounts are still open with roughly 0.002 SOL locked inside each one.

This guide walks through cleaning a Solflare wallet with Wick Sweep, on the browser extension and on mobile, and explains what you should see at each step.

Before you start

  • Have a little SOL in the wallet for network fees. Each batch of closures costs a fraction of a cent, but the wallet needs a non-zero balance to sign.
  • Know that only empty accounts can be closed. Tokens with a balance are left alone, always.
  • Bookmark wicksweep.io. Phishing clones of wallet tools exist, and the address bar is your first line of defence.

On desktop (Solflare extension)

  1. Open wicksweep.io and click Connect Wallet. Choose Solflare from the list.
  2. Solflare will ask you to approve the connection. This only lets the site read your public address and ask you to sign; it cannot move anything on its own.
  3. Click Scan. Wick Sweep reads your token accounts directly from the chain and lists every one with a zero balance, along with the exact SOL locked in each.
  4. Review the list, then click Clean. If you have more than 25 empty accounts, Wick Sweep splits them into batches and Solflare will ask you to sign each one.
  5. Check the approval screen. Solflare simulates the transaction and shows the balance change. You should see SOL coming in. The only SOL going out is the service fee, shown as a transfer to the Wick Sweep treasury, and the network fee.
  6. Approve. Confirmation usually takes a few seconds. Wick Sweep then rescans to confirm the accounts are gone.

On mobile (Solflare app)

The flow is the same, but you start inside Solflare rather than in a browser.

  1. Open the Solflare app and go to the in-app browser.
  2. Enter wicksweep.io and connect when prompted.
  3. Scan, review, clean, and approve each batch exactly as on desktop.

Using the in-app browser matters. Opening the site in Safari or Chrome on your phone and trying to connect will usually bounce you back and forth between apps.

What the approval screen should show

How much will you get back?

It depends on when each account was opened. Accounts created before September 2026 hold about 0.00204 SOL. Accounts created after Solana's rent reduction hold about 0.00149 SOL, and that figure drops further as the remaining reduction steps go live. Wick Sweep reads the real deposit on every account, so the number you see before cleaning is the number you get, minus the fee for your tier.

As a rough guide: a wallet with 30 empty accounts recovers about 0.05 SOL. A heavy airdrop farmer with 300 recovers about half a SOL.

Troubleshooting

Solflare says the transaction may fail. Usually this means one account in the batch cannot be closed, for example a Token-2022 account with withheld fees. Wick Sweep filters these out before building the transaction, so a rescan normally fixes it.

"Owner does not match." You switched accounts inside Solflare after scanning. Rescan with the account you want to clean.

The scan finds nothing. Either the wallet is already clean, or you are connected with a different account than you expected. Check the address shown at the top of the page.

Using a different wallet? There is a matching guide for Phantom.
